Child Care Tax Information

A tax credit is a dollar-for-dollar reduction in taxes owed. Some credits are refundable – taxes can be reduced to the point that a taxpayer receives a refund instead of paying taxes. A tax credit is even more valuable to families than a tax deduction.

Under current federal law, eligible families can claim child care tax credits* up to:

  • $2,100 from the federal Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit (up to $1,050 for each of your first two children; the exact amount depends on your income and actual child care expenses);
  • $2,000 per child from the federal Child Tax Credit; and
  • $6,660 from the federal Earned Income Tax Credit. (The exact amount depends on your income)

Child Care Tax Credit Resources

Detailed information on federal child care tax credits for parents is available from:

  • The Internal Revenue Service: Call (800) TAX-1040 or (800) 829-1040
  • Tax Information for Parents:
    • Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit
    • Child Tax Credit
    • Earned Income Tax Credit
    • The National Women's Law Center

* Credit amounts may change from year to year, are usually dependent on total family income and size, and may be subject to maximum income or child care spending limitations. Consult your tax advisor, the IRS, and state revenue officials to confirm your eligibility.

Accreditation

Doing the Right Things for the Right Reasons

What is Accreditation?

Accreditation is an official review process performed by a nationally-recognized outside agency. The process of achieving and maintaining accreditation is no easy feat. It involves staff and family participation, classroom observations, and health and safety checks. The accrediting agencies have high standards that often go above and beyond our state’s minimum licensing requirements for child care centers. We have to meet these high standards in order to achieve this mark of excellence.

Accreditation Equals a Commitment to Our Families

Our facilities are accredited because we believe so strongly in the process and its purpose: to ensure your child receives the very best education and care in the early years that we know are so important to development. When your child is enrolled at our accredited facilities, you will experience the difference.

Doing the Right Thing for You and Your Child

Accreditation inspires a dedication to constant improvement in all areas—meaning our centers take the care and education of your child very seriously and work tirelessly to answer “yes” to important questions about:

  • The Teachers: Are they professional, experienced, nurturing, and qualified? Do they form bonds with the children and build trust with families?
  • The Environment: Is it safe, clean, and organized? Are daily routines clear?
  • The Curriculum: Does it spark a joy of learning and is it appropriate for each stage of development? Is there time and space for children to explore in the classroom and outside?

These are likely many of the same questions you’re asking yourself or a Director on a tour. In an accredited location, the answer is a resounding “yes” to these and many other important questions. The answer is “yes” to what matters most to you as a loving, involved parent.

We’re proud to have the highest earned a Level 4 in Paths to Quality Indiana Rating System and Accredited by the National Association for Family Child Care. We’re dedicated to achieving 100 percent accreditation for all of our eligible facilities—and that puts us head and shoulders above the rest of the industry.

Who Accredits Our Locations?

We pursue national accreditation from a  The National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC) is a nationwide non-profit organization dedicated to promoting high-quality child care by strengthening the profession of family child care for nearly one million paid home-based early learning programs serving almost 40% of the 6.7 million children who receive care from a nonrelative on a regular basis.

For more information please contact our state's child care regulatory office, or visit the above accreditation organizations.
